Description |
This is a cabinet card photograph (sepia) of Wirt Humphrey as a young man mounted on off-white cardstock with rounded corners and a pencil-thin brown line/border. He is roughly 20 - 30 years of age. His medium-colored hair is combed neatly and parted on his left side and he has a full, medium-colored mustache.. He is wearing a dark suit with a matching button up, vest; a dark, satin tie with a large knot and a tie pin; and a very formal white shirt. He also has a small pin with three circles pinned to the left side of his vest. The bottom of the card-stock lists the last name of the photographer, "Root" and the city of Chicago. The back of the cabinet-card is ornate and has the logo of the photographer printed on the back; it reads, "W. J. Root", "243-253 Wabash Ave., Chicago", "Kimball Hall", and the message, "Negatives Preserved for Future Orders." There is also a stamp (above the logo) that reads, "No._______" and "Size __3 X 3 1/2__", and "Date_______." There are several inscriptions on the back of the photograph as well. One, written in pen, reads, "Wirt E. Humphrey about 30 years age." Others, written in pencil, are illegible but the bottom, left corner has another inscription, in black ink, that reads, "W. Humphrey." and is underlined. |
