Description |
This is a black and white, cabinet card photograph of a young girl (probably Viola Patrick, the daughter of Clay Patrick [family of Amelia Patrick Humphrey]) of about 15 years of age. The image is mounted on a white card with the information of the photography studio (Zimpleman's in Ida Grove, Iow) written at the bottom of the card in dark green. Viola is wearing a medium-colored dress with long sleeves, a high collar with a ribbon on the left side, and a broach at her throat. Her hair is pulled back and her bangs are curled/fluffy. She has a small smile on her face and it looks like she is seated at a desk with her hands folded in front of her and her forearms resting on the table. The image is made to look like it is a picture of a scroll with her image (light background) on it -- the scroll itself looks to be placed on a plain, dark background. The back of the cabinet card has an intricate print on the back with a vine/trellis and the name of the photographer, a photograph with a starburst around it, and information about their services. Copyright noted at the bottom as 1889. |
